Siri Sounds Sad

It seems that Apple’s new Siri service is down right now.

Since Siri relies on iCloud servers to generate her responses, my guess is that there is some problem at the Apple datacenter’s ability to handle the enormous load.

I noticed a very interesting bug with text messaging. Since the “waiting” graphic stays in the text field while voice recognition is processing, the graphic now stays longer during the outage before timing out. I was able to hand-enter text and tap Send, which sends the actual “waiting” graphic along with the text! That is a significant miss on the part of the Apple QA staff. Wow, they should be ashamed for missing that one.

These are obviously issues that Apple must address before Siri can really handle prime-time.

I have found Siri to be an incredible time-saver. It makes handling text-messaging significantly quicker and more convenient for me.

It is really too bad that this will be an opportunity for the Apple-bashers.
