Feline Felicity
Went to the bank this morning early. When I got home, one of the feral cats was at the door, looking for food. When she turned her head to look at me, I recognized an old friend – Mama Cat, the grandmother of all the feral cats here. She did not budge an inch when I showed up – that was my first indication that this was an unusual visit. We have not seen her for months. When I went to feed her, she retreated a few scant feet, and simply waited for me to return indoors before commencing her feast.
Our gathering yesterday seemed to go very well. The new porcelain grates for the Weber grill appear to perform better than the stainless steel ones I have been using for a while. They seem to get hotter, making for a better sear and juicier meat. Elijah, the charming son of my partner and friend, spent the day running about the property with any one of four escorts in tow. Since the land was purchased long ago for just such use in mind, I was most pleased to see him enjoying himself. The adults spent the afternoon on the back deck engaged in pleasant conversation (those not chasing after the child, that is). May the Amish continue to provide such fresh and wonderful food – they are the main reason that people enjoy the food here.
